Precisely Software Incorporated seeks Database Administrators in New York, NY.
Issue resolution and/or root cause analysis of operational issues. Participate in daily Issue Status meetings. Follow issue remediation policies. Correlate error logs with CEDAR processes and client impact. Utilize UNIX commands to search through those logs to identify error conditions. Monitor production processing, outputs and services to ensure that agreed levels of service and other quality metrics are being met. Ensure that processing exceptions are reported for remediation. Work with Vertical Product Managers to construct complex database SQL queries to monitor and identify production activity in particular payment file balancing. Monitor, support and maintain Oracle databases and applications. Respond and resolve customer requests within specified service level agreement. Design, implement, and manage redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery, data archiving, and backup plan to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets. Clone and refresh non-production Oracle applications of non-production from production backups. Participate in the team’s 24x7 on call rotation and provide occasional off-hours support based on the project requirements. Improve database service availability and scalability through tuning, automation, tools, and process. Maintain dashboards and create and present health reports of databases and Oracle applications regularly and maintain dashboards. Administer security and access related requests coming from business customers. Migrate code from lower environments to non-production and production. Maintain and add new existing databases in the environment. Work with developers to troubleshoot various issues in the database domain. Monitor standby database process. Develop, implement, administer, and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the security. Participate in software release management and system configuration for application changes. Adhere to deployment and hot fix standards. Telecommuting permitted.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, plus 5 years of experience in a related field. Must have experience in each of the following: 5 years of experience with Oracle versions 10,11g enterprise edition database operating on a Linux platform; 4 years of experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager for database management, Oracle Tuning, Diagnostic, and Change Management packs; 5 years of experience writing and executing PL/SQL database scripts; 3 years of experience with automating a wide range of database administration tasks covering the complete database lifecycle from of analysis to maintenance; 3 years of experience managing production Oracle database systems with High Availability requirements; 2 years of experience developing capacity planning best practices & data lifecycle management; and 2 years of experience with complex data analysis focusing on system performance, trends, and issues. Telecommuting permitted.
